Name of your website?

GRAPHOS Graphic Design, Branding, Advertising in Edmonton

Your name?

Laurier Mandin

Your Location (city, etc)

Edmonton

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The GRAPHOS Design Lab specializes in creative and uniquely effective branding (corporate identities and logo design) annual report design, corporate communications and trade show display design. Clients have trusted GRAPHOS since 1993 for innovative design solutions, designed to connect with the audience. Tour the virtual Design Lab and see why GRAPHOS designs business success stories.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

A need to present our portfolio of work visually to busy clients.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

1995. At the time, it was a fairly impressive site, with animations all over the place and a ridiculous amount of imagery. Hilarious by today's standards.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It's named after our company that has been around since 1993.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It provide a lot of information, and links to our much more fun flash site, http://www.d-lab.ca. Definitely worth a visit.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To keep making it a better and better user experience.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Quite well. We always work a little harder than necessary, whether on our clients' projects or our own.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We'd have more cool effects and change it up even more often.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Probably not. We've always limited our client base to some degree. The work we do is quite specialized.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

HR costs are very high in Alberta. And rents keep going up and up. We don't like to raise our own prices.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding the best, most motivated staff. And we've succeeded beyond our wildest expectations.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

A combination of web and print marketing.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's more work than originally expected.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

13 years. We'll keep it up indefinitely. It's a business necessity, and we like it.

What is your website address?
