Please give us a short summary of your website?
Bay Area Bookkeeper Resource is a free search and matching service for bay area businesses looking for part time, full time or even one time bookkeepers. Our database of qualified, experienced bookkeepers is made up of network members who are independant bookkeepers across the San Francisco, Bay Area.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The need for businesses to find (free) qualified leads and listings of bay area bookkeepers that fit their business specialty and time or budget requirements. It's a great alternative to business owners either having to hire an employee or go through a more expensive bookkeeping service.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Bay Area Bookkeeper Resource was launched June 2007, www.BookkeeperResource.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It says what we do, simply and clearly.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
There really aren't many similiar services that cover the entire bay area. So we are different primarily by covering all of the bay area counties and cities, and our online search service makes it easy and a no-sales tactic process for business owners to find what they're looking for. Our site is also a very valueable marketing tool for bookkeepers themselves it's powerful yet affordable way for them to build their client and customer base.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To keep growing the site and advancing the search technology.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We're still in the early (second year) stages but there's enough activity to prove that it's a needed service we just need to get the word out there that we're here!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Create more interactive search functions and more tools and features for the bookkeepers who are our network members.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None really, we were well informed about what was involved and what should be expected.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting the site and service introduced throughout the bay area.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Hands on internet marketing and submissions to website such as this.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't really as mentioned before we were pretty well educated before starting and so far things are moving in a to be expected fashion.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We've been up and running for one year. So far we project that the site and service will be up indefinitely growing each quarter and year.
