Los Angeles & Orange County Copywriter Marc Librescu Interview

By Interviewer at 05/22/08 18:50

Name of your website?

Los Angeles & Orange County Copywriter Marc Librescu

Your name?

Marc Librescu

Your Location (city, etc)

Irvine

Please give us a short summary of your website?

I'm a freelance copywriter and consultant who specializes in direct marketing, web content, and search engine optimization.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

It's a marketing vehicle to publicize my copywriting business.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I created my first personal webpage back in the dark ages, maybe 15 years ago.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Using my own name for the site is pretty straightforward. And it helps to make my name into a brand.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I try not to include too much copy on my site. One thing that irks me is when I go to a web site and you have to scroll and scroll. It's an indicator of bad web design.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I'd like to get copywriting jobs.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

My site is relatively new, so only time will tell.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I wouldn't. I believe that a simple approach works best for a business-to-business site. If I was doing something that was entertainment based, I'd have whiz-bang Flash animations, but that isn't what I'm going for.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

That would be a problem I would be willing to face.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I used to create web sites using Microsoft Front Page. I started learning Dreamweaver and I forced myself to create the site in Dreamweaver. Since I'm a novice with the software, it was a bit slow going at times.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I think the biggest challenge is getting visitors to the site who are prospects for my services and then motivating them to contact me.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Since I know SEO, it's been fairly painless getting my site a high ranking in Google. I'm relying on search engines at the moment and am deciding whether Google AdWords would be cost effective for me.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I can't say that it has differed at all.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been up as a copywriting site for about two or three weeks. It will remain up for a very long time.

Do you prefer dogs or cats?

Dogs.

What is your website address?
