Please give us a short summary of your website?
Eco-nomylabel specializes in Brother DK2205 and Pitney Bowes continuous label rolls for small office desktop shipping.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was inspired to launch this website because I used the original manufactured rolls for our business and was tired of paying the high prices. I wanted to design a compatible product that was also environmentally friendly and would do away with the plastic waste that was produced from the manufacturer's rolls and save other consumers that used the product also some money.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
We have been selling clothing on eBay since 2000 and launched our own website http://bellaboutiqueshop.mybisi.com in 2007. We have been branching off into various other elements ever since.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Eco-nomylabel is a play on words. Eco-nomy is a combination of eco-friendly and economical. We incorporate 100% recyclable materials into our product and cut out unneeded plastics.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We have managed to utilize the free web building host sites to reduce our overall operating expenses so we can pass these benefits off to the consumer. Low overhead costs for us means cheaper prices for our customers! Other sites selling similar products are paying for their websites and thus have to pass off those expenses to the customer.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We want to help our customers, in this trying economy, to save on their office expenses so they can stay in business. We also want to build long-term relationships with our customers.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We don't have a lot of time invested and the money we have invested is solely in our product so the more we can sell the more successful we will be.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
It could probably be a little more user friendly but since it is dependent on the hosting site there is not much that I can change.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely, as an entreprenuer that is alway one of the first things to prepare for.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The biggest headache would have to be warehousing the product. Space is limited so we have to make the most efficient use of space and implement JIT inventory.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge would have to be trying to offer different shipping options, however, we believe that we have implemented enough to satisfy the consumer.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
It is still new and we haven't had enough traffic to determine where the most successful areas are.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It takes a little more time than first thought.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It has only been a few days since the site has been up and I will continue to keep it going since it doesn't cost anything to have the products listed.
