How To Get Promoted To Your Dream Position

A few days ago I visited a friend in his office in one of the most prominent companies I know. He holds a good position in San Miguel Corporation, Asia-Pacific's largest food and beverage company. And he is continuously going up higher.

I've known him for more than 10 years. We grew up together living in the same village, going to the same high school and entered the same university although he's 3 years my senior. He's just 25 and yet he's very successful on his career. He let me in on a secret for how he was able to get the promotion he wants.

According to him, there are three crucial elements for you to be able to get the position you want. First you have to have a good philosophy in life which includes your attitude towards work, second is your skills and abilities and lastly you need to have the proper response to everything you seek and need.

• Philosophy/Outlook

A worker must have the proper philosophy towards life before anything else. Loving yourself, and everything about your life means a lot of things to your success. You have to love your self, love your own skills, love your work, be proud of what you can do and always strive for the better. Your attitude towards work reflects everything of you. You will never be promoted unless you show your dedication for your work.
• Skills

Ever wonder why skills is just secondary? Because everything can be learn through time. Do not lose hope if you feel like you like in abilities and skills. There is always room for growth. Your skills can be hasten day after day, and always learn from your mistakes. By the time you have already trained yourself well, the door for more opportunity and the position you want will be opened.
• Action/Response

Your skills will not be productive if you do not put it in action. And if you do not make a good action or a good response to what your current position asks you, then you never go to the other position you are hoping for. Innovation to your action is needed. Do it in style, properly and stand out from the others. Make a perfect response that will make sure you get to have the position you want.
