Name of your website?

DoctorMac - The Mac Bear of Northwestern Wisconsin

Your name?

DoctorMac

Your Location (city, etc)

Bayfield County, WI

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Combo Business and Personal website for my Apple computer consulting biz

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

A personal website back at the dawn of the internet using the very first version of Netscape

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Keyword research helps alot - whether using common terms or building your own brand.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I provide unique Apple computer support and help to a rural and underserved area of Wisconsin

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it running even though I bounce between two locations seasonally. It's important to keep a toe-hold with my websites even though I may be halfway across country.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I do try to use potential affiliate commissions to offset some of the site expenses.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Site management is just something that never ends. Always ways to improve the navigation, content, etc.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Apple computer - and technology changes *constantly*. Keeping current with the latest Macintosh products, peripherals and trends demands ongoing learning.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Knowing with referring sites _matter_ and those that don't. Apple's increasing marketshare and popularity is helping. Mac support is a growing field no matter where I go

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I'm getting better at creating new sites _quickly_ and up and flying. All else is minor and incremental.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I set it up a few months back when I knew I was going to return home to Wisconsin and continue my Mac support biz there. Still trying to get it 'On the radar' of search. Directory 1000 is an important one to get on.

What are some of your other websites?

http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/ -- for Plug and Play chat webcam solutions http://www.mac-digital-tv-tuners.com/ -- for Watching and Recording television on your Mac. http://www.ssd-solid-state-drives.com/ -- Info on the solid-state drive revolution in progress.
