One of the many strategies businesses underwent every year is making sure that at least once in a year, they give promos, discounts, and even free items. Everybody has got a good grasp of the phrase 'best things in life are free' and therefore would do anything for something free of charge. It may have been a good strategy to boost sales, but sometimes it is also a sign of a business having a hard time selling things. And may soon be out of the business.
I saw one gift shop yesterday that has a big sign in the front entrance saying "Up to 75% discount for all items with free gift wrap". As far as I can remember, that store has never put any sale or discount promos even for Christmas holidays. I wonder why are they putting all these deals, especially now that there isn't any special occasion.
Then I noticed the recently opened book store across the street. Now I get it. The store is putting them out of business. They cannot go along the flow. The new store is all modern, situated in a beautiful building with high tech means of advertising while their store is still stuck in the old ways.
I mean, it's not a sin to stay to the original concept or keep the first strategy as the last. That is pretty much OK, if and only if, the competition is weak or there is no competition at all.
If by any chance that you see the competition is getting stiff and yet you are still doing nothing, well I guess it's byebye for you. You can always change for the better.
You have to invest in time and effort changing all that is needed to be changed. If it calls for something new, then give them the freshest. If the people want news, give them total information. If they want a drink, offer additional food. You must always think of surpassing the things people want. Do not stay on what is the usual, go for something better.
Life's best things are free, but you cannot give them free things everytime. Effort and talent is essential to get all the best you need.
