This is probably the toughest time to look for a job, now that some of the companies we used to rely on when we finish our degrees in universities have already closed. The global financial crisis can easily be felt anywhere in the world and looking for a job is just as hard as maintaining a business.
There are some people out there who were given the highest honors on their class, who gained masters or even doctorate degrees but still cannot find a job. This is exactly the case of Kelly Kinney, who holds two degrees in her diplomas and tons of working experience. Despite this, she still has no job.
Her methods on landing a job? Putting her resume on her car window, sending postcards to potential employers and putting her resume in front of her t-shirt? Weird? I say she has the guts, and the idea. Not a bad move for a place where unemployment rate already hit almost 10%.
She's been looking for a job around since October and the only way she thinks she can land on a job is by selling herself through her resume printed on her t-shirt while walking along busy streets in California.
According to her, most of the time the company will tell her she's over-qualified and some position that are vacant for her says she's under-qualified. She's confused as to what kind of job will accept her 2 degrees and work experiences.
There was an offer for her to take the $8 an hour minimum in California but she declined it saying she can't take a job that is $10 an hour. She said she has a kid to send to school and her husband's wage is not enough to feed the three of them and pay the bills.
I just jope Kelly's effort of finding a job will result in good things and find herself a job as soon as possible. Nice idea, girl.
