Just recently, a good friend asked me why do I still use Windows as my favored operating system despite the fact that all of our friends, including him, uses either Linux or Mac. I told him my reasons and I thought of sharing it to you as well. My first computer was a Mac Quadra in around 1993, just when I started attending grade school. I remember playing my favorite alien invasion game platform, Wing Commander Raptors after school hours. That's basically the use I had for my computer, no other thing to do except for playing games. Then in 1996, my father bought a computer with a Windows 95 and since then, I have been fascinated and "at home" using the Bill Gates masterpiece.
At the moment, I have two computers at home and I am using Windows XP on this one and a Mac OS X on the other. I only used the Mac when I do photo tweaking and coloring and most of my graphic-based jobs because that's the best thing with the new versions of Mac, their screen is far more better for graphic features than in Windows. However, I still prefer to use Windows most of the time and here's why. But before I discuss it, must have I reminded you that I am not against using Mac, I used it as well it's just that I prefer Windows over it.
I love upgrading my own stuff, and with Windows, it's very much possible. Mac is placed on a more secure mode and they really keep everything away from the user aside from the features they have put in their computers. In Windows, you can freely upgrade anything. You can literally tweak everything, and if you really know what you're doing, you can have the best results all the time. And its inside is also user friendly and can easily be understood by people who doesn't have any diploma and degree in computer such as me.
I also do not like the idea of Mac's outrageously high priced computers, or should I say, overpriced computers. There's no way I would get a $3,000 computer (including upgrades, external drives et al) when I can get that all in less than a grand, and all with the same specs and far more better features. I know how beautifully crafted Mac computers are, but who cares, I need a computer and not a fashion bling-bling.
I also do not like the idea of having few choices for software downloads. Although there Macs already comes with almost complete softwares, there's still a time that we need to download additional softwares, only to find out that it is not suitable for the OS platforms. You can always find softwares that will work in a Windows computer and I love it for that.
I do not hate Macs or the Mac users, but I think I have laid my points on why I still love my Windows over Mac.
